I’m Heather Deffense, a photographer with a passion for exploring this beautiful planet we call home.

My journey began in 2012, when I arrived in Paris for a semester abroad studying French language, culture, and history. In class, I learned the definition of a flâneur, one who aimlessly strolls through town, simply observing and exploring. My afternoons were spent doing just that: wandering off the beaten path, photographing beautiful little details that most tourists would never see, conversing with locals and falling in love with the city, one pastry at a time.

I graduated with a BFA in photography in 2014 and since then, work (and life) has taken me and my camera to some of the most incredible places on Earth, from Moroccan kasbahs to snow-covered alpine peaks, from Māori villages and Andalusian palaces to Scandinavian forests bursting with wild blueberries and Caribbean shipwrecks full of tropical fish.

My photographs are a celebration of the beauty, wonder and diversity of our world. It is my hope that my art will bring a little peace and joy to your home and inspire awe and respect for our planet and the many cultures that call it home.
